Mustasaari (or Black Island) is a beautiful, summery place only a 15-minute ferry trip away from the city of Helsinki. The island is owned by Helsinki Parish Union.

Island is open for visitors as well as groups during schools' vacation period in the summer and every weekend in August. In May and weekdays of August the island is open only for in advance booked groups. For a reservation, please contact our office.

Mustasaari is a great place for all kinds of activities. Our facilities are suitable for events such as meetings, conventions, courses, company outings or private parties. During summer all kinds of events can be held along with other activities we have. Private events can be arranged even outside opening hours. Staff will help organizing an unforgettable event.

O‍ur shallow, sandy beach is safe for children and swimming is allowed. We keep an eye on blue green algae and inform visitors if it is found in the water. There is no lifeguarding at the beach. The playground near the beach is especially suitable for small children. A small football field is also freely available to visitors.

You can come visit the island with a ferry, that leaves from Taivallahti. We recommend using public transportation to come to the dock, since parking space is limited. You can also come by your own boat or by paddling. More information here.

Mustasaari is only open during daytime and there is no staying overnight. Please notice that the island is a sober space. Do not consume intoxicants during your visit. Unfortunately, pets cannot be taken on the island.
